Gerdine Duijsens spent her childhood drawing. She then realized that what for others was difficult for her was a self-evident craft, she suddenly had understood her talent. At eighteenth Gerdine joined the Utrecht Artibus Academy. Initially Gerdine Duijsens only wanted to improve her drawing, but she was soon immersed in abstract art. The academic life was not consistent with her expectations, so she decided to stop. But she didn’t stop appreciating beauty and abstraction.

Dinner Party

Gerdine Duijsens is a well known artist in the Netherlands, and has her work represented in galleries worldwide. From Rome to Abu Dhabi you can find Duijsens happy paintings. Own world

“When I am painting I am absolutely in my own world and I hear nothing else. For me it is like meditation”, says Gerdine with a brush in her hand. “I think I always do but what happens is that I go with paint on a stroke and the works appears.” She listens especially to her intuition. If her gut feeling is not true, she stops and returns after when the time is right. Gerdine Duijsens has a purely positive perspective in life and the viewer can feel that joy  in her work. “There’s no greater satisfaction for me than the moment I see someone happily carrying my work home. You are not alone in the world. If with my art I can contribute to the happiness of others that’s what matters. It all comes down to this.”
