Jesus Curia is concerned with capturing the essence of man. His sculptures blend figurative elements with abstracted bodies in an attempt to express tradition, modernity and culture. His characters, somehow both ancient and futuristic, reflect the artist's ideas and emotions towards the contemporary world and raise questions about identity, community and globalization.

Curiá imbues his figures with an ambiguity that is fundamental to his visual language. The facial features in his works are neither Western nor non-Western, male nor female. Their powerful forms and gestures evoke a wide range of emotions, including joy, serenity, solidarity and, occasionally, defiance. Although he works primarily in bronze, Curiá carefully integrates wood, stone, concrete and resin when these materials are directly related to the concept he wants to convey with a sculpture.

Despite his Western background, Jesus Curia has a strong interest in non-European cultures, which are the source of inspiration for his art. Curia is a household name in the international art world with exhibitions in major galleries and art fairs all over the world, in which most of the images are now exhibited in Asia and the United States.
